The 411 on Adding Hydration Spray to Your Next Tan

You likely already know that hydrated skin = happy skin. However, sometimes it needs a little more moisturizing than usual due to factors like unpredictable Texas weather. That’s where our Hydration Spray comes in! Let’s talk details:

Going beyond your typical moisturizer with an ingredient list like Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Gel and Vitamin C, our Hydration Spray provides a little extra TLC for thirsty skin by promoting skin hydration. This combination of ultra-hydrating ingredients seals your spray tan during and after it develops.
Breaking down the ingredient list a little further, our Hydration Spray also includes cranberry seed oil, which is also an exceptional moisturizer with its balanced ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids that leave the skin intensely hydrated.

If you’re a spray tan regular, you know all about the dreaded “spray tan smell.” For our newbies, this smell is caused by DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) which is the main active ingredient in all self-tanners. The darkness of the solution your artist uses depends on the concentration of DHA in the solution; in other words - the more DHA, the darker your tan will be.

DHA reacts with the upper layer of your skin, which allows the tanning process to work its magic and give you the bronze glow of your dreams. However, because during this reaction the DHA also reacts with the amino acids in your skin, this also causes the self-tanner smell that haunts your nightmares (just kidding, it’s not that bad!). Like how spray tans are unique to their wearer, the strength of the smell depends on your personal body chemistry and it varies from person to person. Luckily, our Hydration Spray eliminates this post-tan odor with a light, fresh citrus scent!

When booking your next bronze, select the Hydrator or the Bronzier to have your artist use the Hydration Solution post tan!

PSST - We’ve mentioned these before, but here’s a reminder on post-tan care to keep your tan looking flawless!

24+ HOURS AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN

  •  Moisturize BOTH in the AM and PM | The more hydrated your skin is, the longer your tan will last. Your moisturizer should be free of mineral oil and artificial fragrance. Understand that if you use any acne/retinol products, your face may become blotchy. You may use a Tan Extending lotion that contains DHA after day three of your tan.

  • Avoid Swimming, Long Hot Showers/Baths, Saunas, and Excessive Sweating | Your tan will not last very long if you are planning to do any of these activities.

  • Absolutely NO Exfoliating Until Your Tan is at the End of its Life | We advise against using any loofahs or wash rags during your showers. It is best to wash with hands only in areas where needed (pits + privates) to ensure a long-lasting tan.
