BEFORE YOUR BRONZE

  • + Wax/Shave Any Unwanted Body Hair // Waxing should be completed at least 48 hours prior to your appointment and shaving should be completed with a razor that lacks a moisture strip.

+ Exfoliate Entire Body With A Kessa Mitt // We advise against using a body scrub/loofah combo as most are oil-based and will leave a residue.

+ Complete Manicure/Pedicure // If completed day-of tan, we advise you to forego any oils/lotions that your nail technician might apply on you. If completed days after tan, your tan may become uneven due to soaking, acetone, oils, lotions, etc. that your nail technician might apply on you.

+ Avoid Using Any Bar Soaps Or Cream-Based Body Washes // Any bar soaps/cream-based body washes (Dove specifically) are known to leave a residue on the skin and can create a barrier that the tan cannot penetrate through and may leave streaks. Any gel-based body wash is best. Showering should be completed at least FOUR hours prior to tanning to allow your pH levels to neutralize. If you must shower within four hours, run cold water at the end of your shower to close up your pores.

+ Complete Any Spa Facial/Massage Treatments // Tanning should ALWAYS be the last beauty treatment completed due to the barriers that spa treatment products can create.

  • + Do Not Apply Any Lotions, Oils, Deodorant, Perfumes, Or Makeup // All of these can create a barrier on the skin that the tan will not adhere to. If you have any of these products on, use a Micellar Wipe to remove. Do not use a Neutrogena Makeup Wipe as these are very oily and will create more of a barrier.

+ Wear Dark, Loose-Fitting Clothing With Open-Toed Sandals // The best outfit to wear is a sweat outfit. Any tight clothing put on immediately after the tan can result in unwanted lines due to friction. Please note that the bronzer in solution may transfer to your items, but is water soluble and should wash out.

  • + Do Not Get Wet Or Sweat Until Your Initial Rinse // If you accidentally spill water on yourself or if your pet licks you, take a fluffy makeup brush and use circular motions to buff and blend out the solution. You can also use a very small amount of self-tanner on your makeup brush to help blend. Understand that the bronzer will not appear "perfect" after, but once rinsed off, the tan will be evened out.

+ Rinse In Lukewarm Water With No Soap // You will see most of the bronzer wash away down the drain, which is normal.

+ Wait Until Your Color Is Fully Developed To Moisturize // All tans will take about 24 hours to be fully developed. Any product applied to the skin during this time can hinder the results. It is best to moisturize with a lotion that is free of any artificial fragrances or mineral oil as these will strip a tan very quickly.

AFTER YOUR BRONZE

  • + Avoid Moisture Until Your Initial Rinse // This means no showering, working out, lotions, or liquid foundations on the skin. If you have pets, do not let them lick!

+ Do Not Touch Your Body // If you touch yourself while your tan is developing, this could result in orange palms. If you accidentally touch your body, use a Bronzier Exfoliating Mitt to lighten your hands.

+ Standard Tans Must Rinse In 8-12 Hours // You will see visible color after your initial rinse, but should not moisturize for an additional 12 hours. Rinse with water only - Pat dry, do not rub.

+ Express Tan Must Rinse In 2-4 Hours // You will not see much visible color after your initial rinse, and should wait about 24 hours to moisturize. Rinse with water only - Pat dry, do not rub.

+ Rinse At Your Designated Time // If you do not rinse at your designated time, your tan may develop too light or too dark. If you urinate in the shower during your rinse, the ammonia can cause streaking. If you see streaks after getting out the shower, hop back in and use your hand to guide the leftover bronzer off.

  • + Moisturize Morning And Night // The more hydrated your skin is, the longer your tan will last. Your moisturizer should be free of mineral oil and artificial fragrance. Understand that if you use any acne/retinol products, your face may become blotchy. You may use a Tan Extending lotion that contains DHA after day three of your tan.

+ Avoid Swimming, Long Hot Showers/Baths, Saunas, And Excessive Sweating // Your tan will not last very long if you are planning to do any of these activities.

+ No Exfoliating Until Tan Is At The End Of Its Life // We advise against using any loofahs or wash rags during your showers. It is best to wash with hands only in areas where needed (Pits + Privates) to ensure a long-lasting tan.

FAQ

HOW DOES AIRBRUSH TANNING WORK?

The active ingredient used in all tanning products is Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA. This ingredient, which is naturally derived from sugar cane, reacts with the amino acids in the skin to create a browning effect on the outermost layer of the skin. Full development of the color takes about 24 hours after application regardless of the formulation type (Standard/Express). The intensity of the color depends on the concentration of the DHA as well as the individuals skin type. The color will gradually fade over the course of 7-10 days through natural skin exfoliation just like a natural tan from the sun.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A STANDARD AND EXPRESS TAN?

The main difference is the rinse off time. Both formulations will offer the same color results and longevity. With a Standard formulation, you will need to rinse in 8-12 hours. With an Express formulation, you will need to rinse in 2-4 hours depending on the darkness level you would like to achieve. Please note: With an Express tan, your color will not be very visible post-rinse and will continue to develop and darken over the next 24 hours.

WHAT DO I WEAR DURING THE APPOINTMENT?

Clients are welcome to wear as little or as much as you are comfortable with during the appointment. Be mindful of tan lines. Keep in mind that you will always be offered complimentary disposable items (hair caps, nipple pasties, nose filters, and thongs) if you would like minimal lines and to keep your own items free of tanning solution. However, please understand that males of any age and girls under the age of 18 are required to wear undergarments during their appointment. No exceptions.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?

The entire process from start to finish will take about 20 minutes or less.

DO YOU OFFER ON-LOCATION SERVICES FOR GROUPS?

Yes! To inquire about group availability + rates, please contact us via email with more information about your party to receive a quote.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A HOUSE CALL?

Your artist will arrive promptly to your desired location with all equipment and supplies in tow. To best prepare for your mobile appointment, we ask that you please provide a space that can accommodate a 4x4x7 tent that offers adequate lighting and a nearby outlet. A non-carpeted room with air circulation/window ventilation is preferred, if available.

WILL I TURN ORANGE?

While a common concern, it is nothing to worry about at Bronzier. With our 100% customized solution system, our team of airbrush experts are able to select the appropriate darkness level based on your skin type and color-corrective bronzers based on your skin tone to infuse your solution with.

HOW LONG WILL MY TAN LAST?

On average, your tan should last about 7-10 days. Unlike other beauty services, the life of a spray tan is 50% dependent on the clients preparation and maintenance while the remaining 50% relies on the artists application and solution selection. We can’t stress enough the importance of properly preparing and caring for a spray tan and following our guidelines to a T to ensure a long-lasting tan with an even fade.

CAN I STILL GET A NATURAL SUN TAN WITH A SPRAY TAN?

Yes, but be sure to wear a spray tan friendly sunscreen that won’t strip your tan. Spray tans unfortunately do not provide UV protection.

HOW MANY DAYS IN ADVANCE SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY TAN?

We highly suggest scheduling your tan at least two days before any major events (wedding, photo shoot, etc.) and just one day before leaving for a vacation.

WILL THE TAN STAIN MY CLOTHES, SHEETS, COUCH, OR OTHER FABRICS?

If you opt for bronzers in your custom solution understand that these are temporary and provide immediate color. As a result, we recommend wearing dark, loose-fitting clothing after your appointment to minimize the risk of bronzer transferring to your items. However, bronzers are water soluble and should rinse out of most fabrics if contact occurs. Be sure to cover leather car seats/furnishings and avoid direct contact.

IS AIRBRUSH TANNING SAFE FOR EXPECTANT OR NURSING MOTHERS?

While our solutions are organic-based, vegan, and formulated with clean and minimal ingredients, we advise all expectant or nursing mothers to consult with their physician before scheduling an appointment. DHA is only approved by the FDA for external application and we require all expectant mothers to wear both nose plugs and a face mask during the airbrush application. In addition, we require all nursing mothers to wear nipple pasties during the airbrush application. To request an ingredients list of our product to provide your physician with for review, please contact us via email.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

We require a credit card on file for all bookings. Payment will be due at the conclusion of your appointment. Gratuity is not required, but greatly appreciated.
